You can surf in Jaco all year. The "best" time depends on your level, your travel dates and how busy you want the beach to be.
Dry Season: Roughly December to April
- Mostly sunny weather and little rain
- Costa Rica's busiest tourist period — book lessons ahead
- Often a comfortable time for beginner lessons
Green (Rainy) Season: Roughly May to November
- Frequently sunny mornings with afternoon showers
- Fewer crowds and lower accommodation prices
- The Pacific generally receives more swell, so some days bring bigger surf — good news for experienced surfers, and a reason we choose locations carefully for beginners

Wind and tide shape conditions through the day. Our lessons run between 7:00 AM and 4:00 PM, and we can suggest a time that suits the day's surf and your level.
